Losing weight while breastfeeding a new baby isn’t an easy feat by any means. I’ve finally learned some tricks and hacks to help you lose the baby weight while breastfeeding that have worked for me. These are simple hacks for weight loss that make you feel full and help you eat less. These hacks will not affect your milk supply, and if you are worried about losing weight and your milk, I highly encourage you to see what mamas are saying about my program. I created The Postpartum Cure, a unique and holistic postpartum recovery program that focuses on eating nutrient-dense foods for weight loss while breastfeeding. Eating foods that are full of nutrients will help your body produce plenty of breast milk, while also helping your body let go of fat. My program also is available in an APP for both iPhone and Android, to make navigating through recipes, loading videos and downloading content so much easier!

I am SO EXCITED to share that I am launching Milk Dust, the only protein powder that pumps up your milk supply with a special lactation blend, while also curbing sugar cravings!! There are no other clean, super nutrient-dense protein powders like this, and I would love for you to sign up for the pre-sale lists, where I am offering the first batch at a discount!!

Let’s get into the 7 smart hacks for weight loss while breastfeeding:

First hack: Peppermint Gum and Peppermint Tea:

Peppermint has been shown to help reduce hunger and cravings. It helps keep you full, and a great way to consume peppermint is by drinking peppermint tea lightly sweetened with stevia. It tastes wonderful, and it is such an easy help! If you are looking to shed a few kilograms, peppermint tea is the way ahead. Nutritionist Dr. Simran Saini from Fortis Hospital shares, “a cup of peppermint tea can leave you feeling full for a longer period, so you don’t feel hungry throughout the day. This way you will avoid adding extra calories to your day and resultantly lose weight.” (source). If you aren’t a tea drinker, try some peppermint gum to chew between meals and snacks.

Second Hack: Workout While Watching TV

Not sure about you, but when I was a gym-goer, I LOVED having a moment to watch a show (as a mom of three, I RARELY get a chance to watch TV), so going to the gym was super fun for me, and my time on any of the machines went by so much faster! I mean, A LOT faster. You can also do your workout at home while watching TV. I have 15-minute workouts in my programs, just for moms to do at home, and a couple of those while watching a show is a wonderful motivator. Especially if you are tired and have no motivation.

Third Hack: Get This AMAZING App

I have LOVED and used this app for about a year now. I use it for strength and running workouts. There is also a complete postnatal section, with stroller workouts for moms. What I LOVE about this is the super fun music, combined with someone timing you and creating your workout. I don’t have to watch a clock, I am super challenged, and the music is great. I NEVER run out of workouts because there are seriously so many. You can jump into a beginner running plan, which is great for mamas trying to work up to jogging with a stroller or do HIIT workouts right in your living room. I HIGHLY recommend this app because you are literally working out with a trainer! I am SORE after every strength workout.

Fourth Hack: BATCH COOK!

I go over exactly how I batch cook and what I buy a lot of at the grocery store in my program but cook for yourself and your family in batches. This is super helpful for me. I know just last night I let the kids have Wendy’s because I didn’t have anything made, and I didn’t want to cook and clean. By the time Sunday arrives, I need to batch cook again. This IS SO HELPFUL!! In my program, I also go over how I integrate my meals with my family’s meals if they are different. That way you can do less cooking, enjoy the meals you make for your family, and still get in the nutrients you need as a breastfeeding mama.

Fifth Hack: Grocery Delivery!

I don’t shop for groceries nearly as much anymore because we Shipt. You don’t have to pay a delivery fee, and I tip my person $5-10 depending on the order. I have no problem paying $5 extra dollar to have someone drive to the store, grab everything, check out and deliver to me. If you forget something at the store, it isn’t a big deal. It also makes keeping your fridge stocked with healthy food a lot easier.

Sixth Hack: Protein Shakes

Protein shakes are an AMAZING way to get in a lot of nutrients in a quick and delicious meal. I highly recommend this protein powder for breastfeeding mamas because it is safe, clean and created by a company that is completely OCD on sustainability and quality. I have spoken with the CEO, and the products have been created with the most impeccable attention to detail. Because of this, the ingredients and even the packaging are clean, safe, nutritious and sustainable. I am a HUGE fan, and the taste and texture will not disappoint! I have 20 yummy protein shake recipes in my program, and I highly recommend saving 20% and making your first order! Blending protein, with the fiber of frozen fruit is the perfect combination of food to make you feel full and completely nourished. Adding spinach also makes a lot of volumes, so you can drink a HUGE protein shake for fewer calories and feel more full than most other breakfasts or snacks. It is a great trick to keeping yourself feeling full and satisfied on such a super healthy meal or snack.

Seventh Hack: Lots of Fruit

This might not seem like a hack, but here is what you do. Eat an apple, orange, pear, 10 strawberries, 1 or 1 cup of grapes, watermelon, cantaloupe or any of your other favorite fruits before every snack and meal. What will happen is your body will feel full from the water and fiber content in the fruit before you even eat your main meal or snack. Then, your mind is going to feel great because of the glucose in the fruit, and your body is going to get lots of great nutrients. This is an awesome way to help you learn to choose healthy options when hungry or feeling snacky. You will still get your meal or snack, but you won’t be able to eat as much! This is my favorite weight loss hack for breastfeeding mamas because it adds more nutrients to every meal and snack, which helps with the milk supply!

Weight loss while breastfeeding can sometimes leave you feeling completely lost and hopeless, but I promise it can be done, with less effort than you may realize. My program teaches more in-depth on how to eat and nourish your body both for milk production as well as healing, but these hacks will definitely get you started on losing weight on your own!
